Cunning and Awe

So when I was 10 weeks pregnant, I flew back from Cairo and stayed a few days in New York before returning to Austin. A great friend of mine lived there at the time and we, of course, met up. (For those of you who don't know, I did live briefly in NY working for MTV and Nickelodeon.) Being the crazy generous happy person that she is she couldn't resist buying an impromptu baby gift/souvenir. Sophie has almost grown out of it so I wanted to get a few pics of her in it to show my friend. I took a billion and I am just now scanning through them... and I am AWED at my daughter. I know that everyone feels their little one is beautiful, so of course why would I see her in any other light, but she still wows me.

Sophie definitely moves at her own pace. She is not that baby that rolls over first, or sits first, and therefore probably won't crawl, walk, etc. first. And that is so okay. She is that baby that totally gets the whole "eating solids" thing and stops traffic when she flashes her stunning smiling eyes at you (which I am beginning to suspect are windows into a very cunning baby mind.) She can be an utter joy or a complete pain. She is who she is and she's wonderful just as such.
